Wastewater Treatment Design

Petram was asked to assist with a WASH project in Battambang, Cambodia. The organization has been caring for vulnerable girls by providing housing and counseling services for the past 15 years at this location without any connection to state sewer. Cesspools are used to collect wastewater on the site, which need to be pumped regularly and some of their cesspools were broken and raw sewage was leaking into their agricultural area. Petram surveyed their existing wastewater and drainage systems to provide recommendations on improving site drainage and restoring their wastewater system. Petram calculated the appropriate septic tank sizes required for the site, where the tanks should be placed, how deep the tanks should be buried, and the piping network from the septic tank to the leach field for secondary treatment.
